Fine hair brides… why does every professional style turn into a tangled/static mess? 😭

I’m eloping in the Azores next year and did a bridal hair trial for soft boho waves (last 2 pics are inspo).

I have very fine 2a hair (though a decent amount of it) and every single time I get my hair professionally styled, it seems to turn into a tangled/stringy/static mess after a few hours even though I love it right after.

Photo timeline:
1-3 = right after styling
4-6 = a few hours later when it started tangling/matting underneath
7 = immediately after removing extensions
8 = after brushing my natural hair
9 = amount of extensions used
10 & 11 = inspo pic

Stylist used:

diffuser

light conditioner

heat protectant

Killer Waves

Paul Mitchell spray gel

texture spray

1.25” curling iron

clip-in extensions

The issue:
Within hours the underneath especially became dry/stringy and started almost matting together with little to no movement. The extensions got tangled too.
But what’s confusing me is this also happens when I get my natural hair professionally styled WITHOUT extensions. So I don’t think the extensions are the entire issue.

So now I’m wondering:
Is this a fine hair issue?
Too much product/texture spray?
Moisture or protein imbalance?

After taking the extensions out, my hair honestly looked softer and healthier immediately and had much more movement, which also has me wondering if I even need the extensions at all.

Would love advice from other fine-haired people because I feel like my hair reacts VERY differently than most styling tutorials/stylist techniques 😭
