Why distance measured using Profile Tool plugin or Elevation Profile is approximately 1.5 greater than in Google Maps?
Add Google map as base map to the project.
Create line shapefile feature and measure its length using $length function in attribute table.
Add DEM using SRTM Downloader and reproject it to project coordinate system.
Build an elevation profile using Profile Tool plugin and Elevation Profile native function of QGIS.
Distance in attribute table of the line and measured in Google Maps is for example 10 km, but Profile Tool and Elevation Profile show 15 km. Why so?
Elevation seems to be OK though.
Why the difference?
