Should I renew for another 6 months or jump to private for site growth?
Hello po, November 2025 passer here and I've been working sa LGU po namin since January as COS. My contract will end this June pero may option naman to renew for another 6 months. I am earning at a salary grade 11 (around 27k per month) without benefits (since COS nga). Halos wala din akong masyadong ginagastos kase malapit lang din sa bahay. Kaso feeling ko I could do more. Ang trinatrabaho ko lang kasi dito is mag-estimate and mag prepare ng Program of works and sometimes CAD plans, then assist assist na sa mga clients na nagbu-builidng permit. My only site exposure is before mag-start ang isang project like makikipag-usap sa mga Baranggay captains kung ano yung mga ipapaayos at isasama sa program of works ganyan ganyan tapos nag veverify lang ng dimensions para ma prepare yung plans and makapag estimate. Kaya feeling ko di ako masyadong nagg-grow kasi I know marami pa akong matututunan if only nasa private ako dahil mas more on site sila and mas nakikita doon yung actual na nangyayari from start to finish. Natatakot ako na ma-stuck ako dito sa LGU and hindi mapractice to its full extent yung license ko as CE. I am planning naman to apply sa mga private companies pero I'm torn between finishing a 1 year contract here sa LGU tapos next year na or by the end of this year na mag job hunting or should I start looking for a new job now and wag na mag-renew ng contract by July. Considering na ang hirap maghanap ng job ngayon. Pa-advise naman po mga Sirs/Ma'ams.
