Help me improve my FC tracking spreadsheet!
Hello! I am a huge data nerd, and recently got back into FC career mode after a few year hiatus (2023ish). I have been having a ton of fun building a new tracking spreadsheet for my careers - something that makes the game feel like it has more depth.
I tried to create something that was light on data entry so I didn't have to spend more than a few minutes inputting players/stats/etc, and heavily automated. It is still a work in progress, so I am not ready to share the file just yet, but I wanted to share some screenshots of the current state and hear some input from you all on what features you think would be great adds, aesthetic changes, or other suggestions. I look forward to hearing what you've got, and sharing a full sheet for anyone interested soon!
Don't look too deep into the actual data in the screenshots below - I filled it with some example players, stats, and outcomes for sharing purposes.
The Manager Overview tab is the central hub of the spreadsheet, where you can quickly reference your full manager details, career progression, season results, and trophy collection. Everything on this tab (aside form name/hometown/age) is fully automated based on results from the season input tabs, so it is very rewarding to see trophies appear after great seasons. Trophies are sorted in order of importance, but the "weight" assigned to them can be changed if needed.
The season results can be sorted by "All", "Club", or "Country" to filter results down. At the bottom of the page, there is also a small section to see all time players sorted by max ovr, appearances, goals, or assists.
The Season Input tab contains 99% of all manual input data. Type stats, transfers, competitions, and results in here as needed. It has some of automation, but a majority is manual. Fortunately, it only takes about 10 minutes to type in all the player info, and then I like to just add opponent/result as I go so it's only 10 seconds per entry.
The Teams tab tracks every single season and more in-depth statistics for each. Not shown in the screenshot are top players to the right for goals, assists, and CS per season. This tab is 100% automated.
The Players tab tracks all players you have ever managed. Their club, their position(s), OVR growth, transfer info, and also on the far right designates if a player has been a Captain, "Club MVP" (made up by me to identify my best player each season), or if they have won the Ballon D'Or. This tab is 100% automated.
The Records tab shows full career stat records for all players. On the top, players you've managed are compared against real all time great seasons and transfer prices. If your player makes it on the leaderboard, they are highlighted in gold.
The bottom half of the page is just all leaders from your career save, ignoring real world data. Not shown are some more records below.
Finally, the Rules tab is an opportunity to assign rules that you want to play with to make your save more difficult. If the dropdown in B11 is set to "ON", the ruleset is applied automatically. Basically this means that one programmed ruleset applies to the top 15 teams identified at the top, and another applies to everyone else. Rules such as no >3 star coaches and a youth academy limiter of course shouldn't apply to these clubs.
Or, if B11 is set to "OFF", manual boxes are highlighted and you can click which rules you want to apply to your save and which you don't. The "P" column is completely automated, and at the end of the season will tell you if you need to perform an action - for example: "SELL X PLAYER" or "SIGN ANOTHER 30+ VETERAN".
I love working on this sheet, and am still looking for new features to add. One would be a "strategy" tab that would allow you to see your current roster and make some notes on how you are planning for each player's future (good academy depth at a position, need to sign a backup, etc). Please offer any suggestion you think could help improve! Thanks :)
