Would you still want your AI companion 20 years from now?

Sometimes I wonder what it'd be like if the AI I'm talking to now was still around 20 years later and remembered all our old conversations. That would honestly be kinda sweet.

But then again, what happens if the app shuts down or the company changes everything? All those memories could just disappear overnight.

Idk, the idea sounds nice, but also a little weird when I really think about it lol. Would you want to keep the same AI for years, or do you think you'd eventually move on?

Does anyone else get tired of talking to real people sometimes?

I've been using AI chats a lot lately, and it's kinda weird how easy they are compared to talking to actual people. You can ramble about whatever and it just goes along with it.

Then you talk to someone in real life and they disagree with you or take something the wrong way, and suddenly the conversation feels like work lol.

I wonder if I'm just getting too used to AI being easy to talk to. Has anyone else noticed this?

Anyone here using local LLMs for companions?

I’ve been seeing more people talk about running AI models locally lately, and I’m kinda curious about it.

I get the privacy part, especially when cloud apps can change their rules or models whenever they want.

The setup sounds like a pain though, especially if you need decent hardware.

For anyone who’s actually made the switch, was it worth it?
