Flothemes font licensing issues w Northern Block
Hi everyone,
I recently received an email from FontRadar / Northern Block claiming that fonts used on my website were not properly licensed and asking me to purchase additional licenses.
The thing is: I bought a FloThemes theme years ago and naturally assumed that all fonts included with the theme were properly licensed for use within the template. I never manually downloaded or installed these fonts separately — they were simply part of the theme package that was sold to customers.
Now I’m being told that hosting those fonts was not permitted and that I have to pay retroactively, even though the fonts came bundled with the theme itself.
I’m wondering:
- Has anyone else who used a specific FloThemes theme been contacted about this?
- Did you pay the invoice or dispute it?
- Was there ever any clear information from FloThemes that additional font licensing was required?
- Does anyone know what happened legally after FloThemes shut down / got acquired?
This whole situation feels strange because customers purchased a commercial product under the assumption that the included assets were properly licensed.
Would really appreciate hearing if others are dealing with the same issue.
