Questions for current physical therapists

Hello everyone,

I am currently a pre-sonography student at my local community college. I have finished all of the prerequisites for the program, and I am currently waiting to hear back about whether I got accepted or not.

In the meantime, I have been looking into other career paths that I might enjoy just in case I do not get accepted. I want to be prepared so I can seamlessly switch paths instead of scrambling at the last minute.

I currently work part-time as a personal trainer, and I absolutely love it, which has made me wonder if I would enjoy becoming a physical therapist.

For any current PTs out there, I had a few questions:

  • What are the biggest pros and cons of being a PT?
  • How flexible and versatile is the career?
  • What does the job market look like right now? Is it oversaturated, growing, or in demand?
  • What is the pay usually like?
  • This might sound dumb, but do you think AI could significantly impact or replace parts of the profession in the future?
  • What has your personal experience been like both in PT school and working professionally?

I would really appreciate any feedback or advice. Thank you!

(Also, sorry if this is not the right place to post this. If there is a better subreddit or place to ask, please point me in the right direction.)
