Took me 13 days to finally be able to put some weight on my leg and walk with assistance from crutches. But I feel so relieved. If you been keeping up with my 13 days I been through a lot last 4 days and to be able to feel somewhat normal and walk is huge milestone

12 days post surgery update!!

So on Friday, I went to the ER with crazy pain in my calf. Mind you, I had ACL surgery on the 7th — just ACL, no meniscus work. After doing an ultrasound, they found a blood clot in my calf. They immediately put me on blood thinners that Friday.

Monday afternoon comes around, and I start feeling another sharp pain in my calf. I was in so much pain that I went back to the ER. My heart rate reached 190. I’m 28, athletic, and healthy, so it was definitely scary.

They did another ultrasound and a CT scan on my chest to make sure the blood clot hadn’t traveled to my lungs. After about 2 hours of waiting in the ER bed for results, they came back and told me I had no blood clots anywhere in my body. The blood clot in my calf had dissolved, and there were no clots in my lungs. They were shocked it was gone that fast — from Friday to Monday.

I’m so happy, man. You guys have no idea. I was praying, asking God to please help me get through this, and now I’m officially blood clot free. 🙏🏽

I still have to stay on blood thinners for 3 months, though.

This was my first surgery ever. I played college basketball, I’ve always been super active, and the biggest advice I can give anyone is: listen to your body. If something really feels off, it’s always better to get checked out than to just try to thug it out. You’re obviously going to have pain during recovery, but you’ll be able to tell when something truly doesn’t feel right.

Another tip: whenever you feel pain, try your hardest to control your breathing. Once you start panicking, everything goes downhill from there.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I’ll continue posting updates throughout my ACL recovery journey. Today is Day 12 post-op, and I’m officially cleared to go back to PT. Let’s go 💪🏽
