Passport Witness Questions

I have recently applied for passport under FBR. I have just a few questions regarding the passport witness timeline and verification call that would be extremely helpful to know.

  1. I see in the "Irish Passport Helper" Timeline that it is currently 38 days from when documents received until book printing, and that the "witness contacted" is 5 days before book printing. So, if I can do my maths correctly, then it's roughly 33 days after document receipt that the witness may be contacted?

  2. Also, from what number(s) might the witness call originate from? I know that I typically don't answer my phone as it's 98% spam calls, and I want to be able to give my witness (a notary and friend) a heads up on what number to expect. I believe I had heard that in the United States the calls may originate from an embassy? I'm on the East Coast and there are embassies in New York City and Washington, D.C. (I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This sub has been enormously helpful and I am so grateful for this resource! Many thanks.
