I was a bit surprised at how expensive private healthcare and related services have become.

Private hospitals, dental clinics, optical shops, supplements etc — everything feels super pricey from a consumer point of view.

I looked up the income stats and it seems like median household income is around RM5–6k, with quite a portion below RM4k.

Feels like there’s a pretty big gap between what people earn and what a lot of these private services cost.

Just wondering if this is normal in Sarawak in general?

  • Is private healthcare basically meant to be a premium system here?
  • Do most locals just rely on public healthcare instead?

Would be good to hear from people who actually live here or understand the system.

Buying from iHerb Malaysia is so expensive and shipping takes forever.
Are there authorized local distributors for brands like NOW Foods, Life Extension, and Nature's Way on Shopee MY that can guarantee product authenticity?
