I was recently impacted by layoffs at AWS in January and reviewing the severance + confidentiality agreement. I had a few questions for others who went through this process:

1. How seriously does Amazon enforce the 18-month non-compete in practice, especially for cloud/data/analytics roles?

2. Did future employers care about the clause requiring disclosure of the agreement?

3. Did anyone negotiate any of the restrictive covenant language successfully?

4. Was it worth having an employment attorney review it?

5. Any issues joining competitors or adjacent tech companies afterward?
