I'm an External auditor with no Accounting degree. Help!

Hi guys,
I'm an external auditor in California with 2 years of experience in governmental auditing and public utility compliance auditing (Single audit, FS compliance, Regulatory compliance). I have my master's degree in Engineering Management, Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. I took this job in desperation for a job(tough times), and I got stuck here for the past two years and now I cant go back to start looking for a new career from scratch without showing experience. I want to get out the super toxic firm I'm working at the moment(Work is amazing but the management is very toxic). It is taking a mental toll on my health. I'm posting this here out of desperation and looking for some suggestions for me to position my career in the right direction.
