Should I call a structural engineer for this crack in my wall?
I’ve owned my home for 6 years, and this crack was already present when I moved in. Unfortunately, it was something the inspector overlooked. We patched and repainted it shortly after moving in, but the crack reappeared a couple of years later. It’s possible the previous owner had patched it before as well.
Using a level, I’ve noticed that the upper portion of the wall is slightly bowed outward compared to the lower portion. This is a load-bearing wall.
I should also mention that I live in an area with heavy rainfall, clay soil, and known drainage issues on the property.
The first photo was taken 6 years ago before the patch repair, and the second photo is current.
Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.
