Arrested for metro ticket

Hi, I'm French and was arrested today because I did not validate my ticket in the Genova metro, because no machine was working in Brin. The officer sent a report and told me I must pay 60€ and I have 5 days to complain. What can I do ?

I want to complain because the machine was not working (other families around had the same problem) but I don't know if this "complain" can really get me anywhere.
