What can my brother do so he's not seen as a criminal?
Location: West Virginia
My brother (M19) was dating a girl (F19?). They had a mutual breakup and everything has gone to shit since then.
My brother lives close to her and thought it was a good idea to walk to her house to talk to her about something. (Dumb idea I know). But she blocked him and our entire family on everything. So my brother knocks on the door, and through the doorbell camera her mom says to leave. He tells her that he just wants to talk to ex-girlfriend. Ex's Mom tells him to leave or she's going to call the police. Brother turns and walks away and Ex is flying up the street. She gets out of the car and tells him to leave. He says that's what he was doing and walks home.
Ex messages me on Instagram (after she unblocks me) telling me that he showed up and they will call the police if he comes back. Then she blocks me so I can't ask any questions about what happened. Brother then tells us what happened.
Later the police comes and tells him not to go over to her house anymore. He says okay.
Today he is served with a restraining order and is being forced to turn in his guns that are in our Dad's name. (Our parents live in Alabama and can't go to get them. And our older brother and I live on the West Coast and can't go out there). And he has to go to court on Monday.
My brother has NOT threatened the ex or her family. My brother has NOT gone back to her home and has only gone to work. My brother doesn't know what to do and is asking our family for help on what to do. What can he do?
Edit: Dad bought the guns as gifts for brother. Not a strawman's purchase. Not bought with brother's money. (I'm not a gun fan so I know nothing about guns laws or anything)
Additional Question: If he moves away (as in to Alabama with my parents) will he be able to get the guns back if the restraining order stays in place after court?
