Scared the vendor is a criminal?

hi I recently googled the name of one of the vendors of a property we are close to purchasing. I found some disturbing news articles and arrest warrants. I can’t say for certain its the same person but I also searched the town and there was also a warrant for their arrest a few years ago in the city.

This has rattled me quite a lot, we love the home but knowing this information might be connected is unsettling. Do I have any way to know? I don’t want to give up on the house if it’s not the same person but also would not want to live there if it is for safety reasons.

FHB - offer sitting in limbo

My partner and I put an offer on a house, within the asking range, not a low ball offer, in fact probably even a little higher given we had become emotionally attached to it (yes, I know, lesson learned!) anyway the REA said he would take it to the vendors, he then came back and said they appreciate the generous offer but want to test the market. Our offer was still on the table and not withdrawn. Since then there has been another open home which we went to to have a second look at the property. I spoke with the REA he said there were no other offers that had come through and that he would come back to me the next day. He never did. Now it’s been over a week since our offer has been sitting there stagnant. Another REA told me he needs to formally reject the offer and if they do then they need to update the price range to be above what we put in legally. Wondering if anyone has been in a similar position and might be able to advise? There are other places popping up and I feel a bit frustrated with how the situation has been handled and therefore a bit energetically detached from the house now but I would still live there too because it’s a beautiful home. Hard to know what to do? We live in an area were houses stay on the market for 30 + days and more expensive homes even longer.

Hi

newbie here! We found a property we love, called the real estate agent because it was just listed without an asking price he said mid to late 700s and when we asked about when the open home would be he said it’s currently tenanted and it would not be this weekend because it’s too short notice to do a open house but then I asked if we could come and visit since we loved it and he said he would check with the tenants and they agreed.

My question is if we go tomorrow and love it, which I suspect we will, do we put in an offer? my family members said it’s a bad idea and they will just think because we are such eager beavers the rest of the people will be too - my feeling is if we make an offer in the range they are asking for would it be better than having to manage doing an open house while it’s tenated or am I naive? I’m worried we don’t put an offer in it goes to the open house and then becomes more competitive but if we put on the upper end say 770 we might have a chance of being accepted? or do we start low and let it go to the open house and wriggle up? it all feels like a weird game to navigate the psychology of how to do this - help!!
