How to use pd170 tapeless
Hi everyone!
I’m trying to go full "tapeless" with my Sony DSR-PD170 using the Sony HVR-MRC1 recorder via FireWire.
The recorder is currently set to FOLLOW mode, but I have a major issue: since I don't have a MiniDV tape inside the camera, when I press the REC button on the camera handle, nothing happens. The camera doesn't start and, consequently, it doesn't send the signal to the recorder.
Currently, I have to manually press REC on the HVR-MRC1 unit, which is very annoying while filming.
Is there a way to make the recorder follow the camera's REC button without having a tape inside?
I’ve looked into the TAPE SET menu but I can't find the DV CTRL option (it seems hidden).
Does the PD170 support "External Record Command" without a dummy tape?
Any help or specific menu walkthrough would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
