Worst Camping Experience

I just got back from a camping trip that I had planned 5 months in advance and planned all kinds of activities and it turned out to be the worst camping trip I have experienced. At 130am I woke up feeling something on my face and brushed it off and heard some big flapping wings only to find a bat flying around in my tent trailer. I spent the whole day (getting back to my camper at 130am the following day) at the local ER going back and forth with public health to get the rabies vaccine for myself and my family. Please tell me some bad camping stories so I can feel better about such a crumby trip 😅. Pic included to show where I think the bat might have wiggled in.

Facebook Transfers

I'm really hoping for a cancelation for Awenda this year as I have a site but it's not electrical and we are really hoping for power. I have seen a Facebook group for this and I'm wondering how I can trust that this person will transfer. Have there been horror stories? Are there any tips for making sure someone is legit? Is there something they can show that they actually transferred it? Worst case we go without power but really hoping to have something to run a fan lol

Wheatley PP

Spent a few nights at Wheatley provincial park. Stayed in highlands loop.

PROS:

- Sites were pretty large and bordered with shrubbery so pretty private

- Everyone was very quiet (I typically book in radio free zones and wasn't able to this time)

- Saw a lot of wildlife (lots of birds like cardinals and red winged blackbirds visited our site frequently, saw a great blue heron on the marsh, turtles, snakes, bunnies, deer)

- comfort stations seemed well maintained

CONS:

- Water quality was not great and there is so little actual beachfront

- Bugs were bad, but that is to be expected this time of the year

- Not a lot of trail options

- Small campstore

Tobermory Tours

I'm planning a trip to tobermoey later this summer (peak season). I want to do a glass bottom tour but I'm wondering if I need to book this far in advance or I can wait closer to the date to make sure the weather is nice or it fills up fast. I'm looking at bruce anchor and blue heron tours because they are pet friendly

Algonquin Site Dropoff

I booked a site at algonquin for Thanksgiving and even though I was on yesterday at exactly 7am the sites I had planned were of course all booked by 7:00:000001 so I snagged one I thought would be good, but looking closer it seems like there may be a pretty steep drop off at the back of the site. It's site 229 in lake of two rivers. I have a 4yr old and I'm pretty concerned about it. Has anyone been there and can tell me how steep it is from all the sites along the river there?

Thank you!
