This place feels like hell.
So, as the title says, I'm starting to feel like these folks are in hell (not an original thought, I know). Maybe in a specific corner or layer of it. Certainly not in Pergutory like in the final season of Lost, but actual hell. Some kind of sh*t went down in their lives before they reached that tree. Something they didn't survive. The tree is the beginning of their cycle in Fromville. The man in yellow is a demon or Lucifer, there to make them suffer and tickle out their inner darkness, hoping they'll turn on each other (again). The MiY can take on different appearances just like the devil. And hell is a place where you can be tormented by the repetition of the same thing over and over again. You begin the cycle and suffer, then comes a wee bit of hope which gets yanked away, then more suffering until the sh*t blows up hard. And then it starts all over again. Maybe add some different souls here and there to give it some variety. What really got me thinking is that they never run out of people. Everytime a number of people die, more pop in to fill that void. The town's numbers never really dwindle. But also it never feels like the town is too overcrowded. Their numbers stay at a convenient amount. Always. That they're holed up in colony house like a bunch of pack rats is their choice due to lack of rune stones. There's more than enough space for their numbers, but they can't spread out and create new homes or repair/reconstruct/reutilize other buildings. Gotta stay squished together. Which adds tention, which adds more suffering when someone loses their sh*t. It sure all feels like hell to me.
