Best Norrøna jacket for Scottish summer/shoulder season?

Looking for recommendations for a lightly insulated, wind-resistant jacket for Scottish summer and shoulder-season conditions.

Essentially, something for when it's too warm for heavier insulation but too cold (mainly due to wind chill) for an uninsulated jacket. Ideally something that blocks the wind well, provides a bit of warmth, but doesn't overheat easily.

Thinking along the lines of an Arc'teryx Atom SL.

I've been looking at the falketind thermo40 Zip Hood and lyngen thermo100 active Zip Hood, but I'm unsure which would be better suited. Its going to be for mainly everyday use but could be used for trekking, biking etc at times.

Does anyone have experience with either, or recommend something else from Norrøna?

Geotechnical Engineering vs Public Sector – Salary & Career Progression

I’m looking for opinions from people working in geotechnical engineering in the UK on salary progression and long-term earning potential.

I’m currently working as a Geotechnical Engineer in consultancy/design earning around £35k, with a BSc in Geology, an MSc, and experience across GI/site work and design.

I also have the option of returning to a public-sector career starting at around £43k, rising in yearly increments to around £55k after seven years before promotion.

The public-sector role also comes with a defined-benefit CARE pension, where pension builds each year based on salary, is revalued over time, and can currently be taken at 60.

For those in geotech:

  • What has salary progression looked like for you?
  • How strong do you think the long-term earning potential is?
  • How much difference has chartership made?
  • Have you needed to move companies to progress?
  • Do you think consultancy salaries eventually make up for weaker pensions and less predictable progression?

If you’re comfortable sharing, it would be useful to know your job title, years of experience, salary and region.
