Scanning resources
Hello, I went ahead last year and bought an einstar scanner. (Looks like a telephone), and I ended up just putting it on a shelf out of frustration. I tried learning the software, and kept having issues, was told my computer was too slow/old. Thought “well maybe it’s time to upgrade anyway” so now I have a 9750x3d with 64gb ddr5 ram and an Nvidia 5090.
It didn’t solve my problem. Does anyone know of any resources that would help me figure out how to use this thing? Is einstar a crap product, and I should have known better?
For those who may think I’m just bad at technology: I am a 3d modeler and cad user, cnc user and 3d printer. But for some reason scanning with this thing is a nightmare. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I am sorry I didn’t post a video, I was hoping for some more general resources that could help but I understand that details could help there as well.
It loses scanning about every 3 seconds. Doesn’t matter if I pull it closer, give more distance, it just feels like it “sees” the object when it wants to. It does scan, and with a LOT of fiddling it will give me something that almost seems useful, but leaves me with misaligned chunks that I understand I’m supposed to stitch together. Now I tried scanning a goku statue and there just wasn’t enough of him to stitch together. (Forget about flipping it and trying to get the bottom side, that creates a whole new series of misaligned crap, intersecting the misaligned crap I started with)
Sublimation powder, calibration, upgraded computer, different usb port, different lights (led/fluorescent/incandescent) and I just gave up, einstar’s customer support definitely made me feel like I got a lemon. Their little videos made this seem so easy
