Just a heads up for anyone from Adelaide University that the majority of Hub Central, Barr Smith South and Hughes is without power this morning. A big chunk of study spaces are unavailable. Students need to check their timetables if they have classes in any of these buildings as they are likely to have moved.

There is very patchy wifi connectivity across campus (and apparently also at AHMS, Waite and Roseworthy).

From an email sent to staff: Following Saturday night’s storms in Adelaide some of our facilities and technology systems have been affected by flooding and associated power outages. While testing has confirmed that our major IT systems are working, specific impacts to affected buildings, including teaching spaces, are still being assessed.
Localised flooding has occurred on the City East Campus and unfortunately, some teaching spaces are closed as a result.

We are working with our colleagues in Estates and Facilities and our Timetabling team to determine specific impacts and alternative arrangements. Course Coordinators have been contacted directly about any required changes to teaching arrangements for Monday 18 May.

It is possible that access will continue to be disrupted throughout the week. Course Coordinators with teaching activities scheduled in the impacted buildings throughout the coming week are encouraged to plan alternative arrangements. We will continue to issue updates as information becomes available.

Current status 7.00 pm Sunday 17 May
Buildings and facilities that have been impacted and can’t be accessed until further notice:

Barr Smith Library South – Levels 1, 2, 3 and 5 can’t be accessed

Hughes Building – Levels 1, 2 and 3 north wings can’t be accessed

Horace Lamb Medical Practice is closed

Hub Level 4 Post Office is closed

The Rainbow outdoor lift and the two internal lifts in Barr Smith South are not working, impacting building and campus accessibility

All other buildings and facilities at the City East Campus are currently operating as usual, including Barr Smith Library North, and the Hub Level 4, including cafés and food vendors.

Next steps:
For your safety, please do not enter buildings that are without power. Affected buildings and spaces will be locked and signage will be placed around campus where relevant.
We will provide updates as specific impacts are confirmed and more detail is known. Please keep an eye on University channels, including email and the Staff portal.
