For context: I'm a second year PhD at a strong UK maths dept, working on statistical ML. The goal was always to do some cool ML research at a top industrial lab, but with fewer and fewer jobs focused on ML for an interesting application due to the LLM boom, I figure I might as well go for quant if I'll be selling my soul either way.

I'm a fairly strong applied mathematician but have never gone in for the competition maths or really grinded for any interview processes before. So my question is: is it too late? I know l lots of QRs/QTs get internships in undergrad but I've had none of that so far.
