I spent the last year building a golf swing simulator focused on club face control… investors told me nobody would use it. Are they right?

I’ve been building my own golf simulator/training system over the last year and wanted honest feedback from golfers here because investors I spoke to think nobody would actually care about this.

The setup right now is basically:

  • swing trainer
  • IMU sensor
  • Pi Zero 2W
  • 120fps camera

The reason I started building it was because I felt like most simulators tell you what happened at impact but don’t really guide you on HOW to become more consistent.

So I created this “tour pro trace” idea where you can compare your club face and path throughout the swing against better players.

Basically instead of having 20 swing thoughts in your head, you just check:
“Am I moving through the green zone consistently?”

Less:
“keep the right elbow tucked”
“stay shallow”
etc

More:
“are my club movements actually becoming more repeatable?”

It measures face angle and path throughout the swing, not just at impact.

I also tried making the shot patterns more intuitive visually.

For example slices travel upward on the trace, hooks downward etc so you can kind of understand what’s happening without needing to fully understand launch monitor numbers.

I’ve personally found it really useful but investors I spoke to basically think golfers wouldn’t spend money on something like this because majority of golfers wouldn't even spend on a a good club fitting and that I should move on from it.

I feel like I’ve come really far with it already so I genuinely wanted honest feedback from actual golfers before I continue pushing deeper into this.

Do you guys think this is interesting/useful or am I solving a problem nobody actually cares about?
