Spoilers through ACOWAR ***
If we had Tamlin’s POV or insight into his thoughts I think a lot of the fandom would feel differently about Tamlin. SJM not giving us Tamlin’s thoughts and instead using feyre and Rhysand to apply negative connotation to Tamlin’s actions without allowing Tamlin defend himself is such a clever writing tool
To deceive the reader into believing whatever Rhysand and feyre think or feel is truth; Even if the actions of Tamlin don’t support these negative thoughts . Take Rhysand for example, he actually does heinous actions but because feyre THINKS about Rhysand in such a positive way and rationalizes all of his questionable actions, the reader is lulled into, once again , siding with feyre even though Rhysand’s actions may actually be negative. I saw someone post on IG that anyone who loves Tamlin (this person used the immature nickname for him) had zero reading comprehension and lacks critical thinking skills and it was so ironic because I think the opposite is so true! It takes someone to actually step out of feyre’s POV and analyze the text critically to understand that Tamlin is not a villian and his actions are completely understandable . One actually has to attempt to see Tamlin’s POV to think critically about the text. It also takes Critical thinking to realize that rhysand’s actions don’t lineup with feyre’s rose colored glasses. One of the most glaring scenes is when feyre allows Lucien and Tamlin to believe she was SA’d by Rhysand while in the NC. Then she gets incredibly angry with them for BELIEVENG her and “adds it to the long list of things to repay them for”. Say WHAT? Feyre is angry at Tamlin and Lucien for believing her? When in fact they have all the reason in the world to believe her, especially after seeing what Rhysand did to her UTM.
