Let me tell you why the medical field frustrates me so fkin bad.
I’ve been suffering with RUQ/rib pain for years w classic gallbladder symptoms w zero gallbladder evidence. Every test comes back normal. Every scan is unremarkable. Meanwhile I’m just supposed to accept that I’m imagining it I guess.
Copay after copay. Scan after scan. At this point I’m pretty sure I could light up a room from all the radiation alone.
Eventually I got fed up and went full Sherlock Holmes on my own chart. And turns out I have a hyperkinetic gallbladder. One that works too hard n produces every single symptom of a gallbladder that isn’t working at all. For reference: anything over 80% ejection fraction is considered hyperkinetic. Mine was 91%.
There was a problem the whole time. There was always a problem.
Guess who had become an add on to the next day surgery list! It was me!
Because I was right. I was never crazy & I was just failed by a system that stopped looking the moment the obvious answer didn’t pan out.
Recovery has been rough. But each day I see tiny successes. I’ve been able to eat food and not hurt! But two days post op is still very early.
Tips: if you have lazy doctors look at your hida scan percentage. I had to suffer with this bc my dr said it was normal.
