Pantographs have pretty much replaced trolley poles everywhere. Except for trolleybuses.

Pantographs last longer due to the shear force being distrubuted through the strip instead one area and also more safe and reliable as the strip is better.

Trolleybuses cannot close circuit through the ground, so they need 2 overhead lines to close the circuit. Couldn't Pantographs be split in a 2 parts will insulated material in the middle to complete the circuit through the trolley bus, or just 2 pantographs in general? I'm asking because I just learned about this and interested in these systems.

Edit: I realized I was thinking more of in-motion charging more than traditional trolleybuses. That's what I mostly meant.
