Port Installed Packages and Accessories
Can someone explain how these fit into pricing strategies? We have a 2026 RAV4 on order. This is our third new Toyota, from the same dealer that has no-haggle pricing. Frankly we have been very happy with the dealership. The earlier ones (2007 Camry Hybrid and 2018 RAV4 Hybrid) had factory options and no dealer options, and nothing "port installed". The 2026 has only one factory option, no dealer options, but $2000 of port options. It looks like the port options behave as factory installed (the car isn't even built yet!), but act as dealer padding yet beyond their control. The regional distributor is making a killing. Note that the dealer has no inventory like they did 8 years ago. And in every case they are discounting the SRP, so no "additional dealer markup" or other money grab. I will point out that the 2026 (Limited) is about 35% more expensive than the Limited Hybrid we bought 8 years ago, so the price increase is considerable. We are keeping the 2018 as a second car.
