Did I find a glitch?
Everyday after work (nights), I go to a local fast food place for breakfast and coffee. I see the same cashier very regularly and order the same thing every time.
Two days ago...I went and said:
"Hi ___. Nice to see you again."
They were stunned. They weren't wearing a name tag and curtly said: "How do you know my name?"
I laughed. "What do you mean? I see you every day."
"I have never seen you before in my life. What can I get you?"
I was a little shocked, but shrugged it off and got my order.
Well, yesterday, there I was again and there they were. I didn't bother trying to be cordial by name this time. They asked if I was ok.
I simply responded, "You seemed so offended when I called you by name yesterday, so I wanted to be polite and forget it happened."
They immediately responded: "I never saw you yesterday."
"Were you working?" I asked.
"Yes."
"At this time? At this location?"
"Yes. Are you feeling ok? You usually come by but I didn't see you and thought nothing of it."
All I can say is wtf did I experience? Is this displacement theory? Some sort of brain memory fog? Did I enter some alternate universe?
Still kinda spooked by this whole experience.
