First Passport after Naturalisation/ Citizenship UK

Just to help ease the anxiety of others who has the same situation as I had.

Here’s my timeline for passport application after naturalisation/ citizenship.

I applied for naturalisation (skilled worker to ILR + 1 year) 30th November 2025. Got my atlas email 9th Feb 2026, then had my oath taking 17th March.

Whilst waiting for my ceremony, I realised that my middle name was not included on my Atlas email. I did rang the council if they can have a cheeky look if my middle name was on my certificate, and unfortunately it wasn’t included. As I’ve read on other posts before, your certificate must have the same name as your passport so that you won’t have a problem applying for UK passport. The council advised me to do the amendment after the oath taking as they wouldnzmt be able to reprint the certificate.

I prepped RR form before the citizenship ceremony, then I immediately sent the certificate back the day after my ceremony to UKVI for amendment.

It took a month for them to amend it. Gave all the necessary proof to to prove that it wasn’t my fault. I didn’t pay for anything as the error was on their end (except the postage, of course). Do take note, you won’t be receiving any update or whatsoever about your amended certificate. It’s like waiting in the dark. 🤣 That’s why after nearly a month of waiting, I did ask for help with of our local MP just to give it a push. I think it helped speed up the process because after I emailed our local MP, UKVI replied to them and the amendment was approved straight away.

2nd May 2026, I received my updated certificate, gave it a few more days and I applied for passport.

Hope this helps with other people waiting for their turn. :) I think this is the end of my citizenship + passport application saga. Hope yours won’t be as long as mine. 🤣
