I think the bugs will be worked out and the site will be better. For some reason I’ve also gotten many requests the last 2 days moreso than usual. I’ve hosted almost 500 and live in LA and rarely get requests so something changed for me. Anyone else?
Also for those who want to meet travelers and locals outside of CS. I built an app to connect travelers and locals through interests and activities, NOT hosting. NOT competing with CS but working with it. I would love to work with Couchsurfing owners with my site. If CS is listening let’s chat ;-).

I’ve hosted around 500 guests. Back in the day there was no app, no calendar just massages and emails coming in we kept track of. So any app is better than no app. I’m in a different camp than many here. I think the new updates ONCE cleaned up and the mess is clear, will be beneficial for Couchsurfing.
I built a social travel site for locals and travelers to connect, and in doing so I interviewed 75+ couchsurfing guests and hosts, ALL of them said the app needs to be updated and revamped. Every single one. Now that CS is making a move, everyone is complaining. It’s been day 1. Let’s see how the dust settles on this but I think and hope it’s a positive to get the community stronger again. Back when I started in NYC I had 10 requests a day and it was an amazing website. Let’s not be so negative right now and in a week or 2 see how the pieces fall into place.
