Roast my AI publishing tool. Built it after Amazon KDP permanently banned me

A few weeks ago I was making around €400/month self‑publishing on Amazon KDP, not life‑changing, but real.

Then one of my pen names, a really dumb pun, to be honest, triggered something in KDP’s system and my whole account got permanently banned overnight, no warning, no real appeal, catalog gone, income gone.

I sulked for a bit and then rebuilt the workflow I’d been using into an actual product, partly as therapy, partly because I figured other people were running into the same problems, it’s called DraftToDone, it takes a book brief and spits out the full package for KDP: manuscript, cover, and listing metadata, with QA + AI‑disclosure checks built in.

The idea is not “publish 1,000 low‑effort books”, the real pain was quality control and not getting banned for something stupid.

Here’s the startup: https://drafttodone.io,

Roast everything: the idea, the positioning, the landing page, the pricing, whatever, if it looks like AI slop, say it, if this is a terrible niche, tell me why, what makes you instantly distrust a tool like this?

I’m the founder, so I’m obviously biased, but I’m here for the punches.

Banned from KDP. Is it realistic to recover a €400/month income on IngramSpark, or am I delusional?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some honest, realistic advice from authors who use IngramSpark, especially those who might have transitioned here after losing access to Amazon KDP.

Long story short: I had a very steady stream of passive income on KDP (around €400 / $430 a month) from a catalog of non-fiction niche books. Unfortunately, my account was permanently closed recently due to a stupid misunderstanding over a pen name I used, which apparently belonged to a real author. Appeals failed, and the door is permanently shut.

I’m currently looking into IngramSpark to rebuild my catalog and start over. But I want to manage my own expectations.

For those who rely on IngramSpark (and its global distribution network) without the massive organic search traffic that Amazon provides natively:

  1. Is it an illusion to think I can slowly climb back to my €400/month baseline purely through IngramSpark's distribution?
  2. Do you have to drive 100% of your own external traffic, or do you get organic sales through their retail partners (Barnes & Noble, local shops, etc.)?
  3. For anyone who got banned from KDP and moved here, how was your recovery journey?

I'm ready to put in the work, but I just want to know if I'm chasing a ghost. Any insights or reality checks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Account closed over a pen name mistake. Has anyone successfully appealed a ban?

Hi everyone,

I’m in a really tough spot right now and I am hoping to get some advice from anyone who might have navigated this before.

My KDP account was recently shut down. The reason given was that I used an author name that, unfortunately, already belonged to another established author. It was a genuine oversight and mistake on my part, but Amazon naturally took strict action.

I was making around €400 a month from my books. I know it might not sound like a fortune to some, but I genuinely rely on that income for my daily living expenses, so losing my account overnight has been devastating.

Has anyone here ever been banned (for a similar issue, or anything else) and actually managed to get their account reinstated? If so, I would be incredibly grateful for some guidance:

  • How did you structure your appeal?
  • Is there a specific way I should communicate with KDP support to prove it was an honest mistake and guarantee it will never happen again?
  • Are there any specific things I should absolutely avoid saying?

I know KDP is notoriously strict with their bans and that second chances are rare, but I have to try everything I can to get it back. Any help, tips, or shared experiences would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
