First ever fan restoration - GE Vortalex fan Cat. No. F11V163 circa 1951

Just finished up my first ever restoration of a vintage General Electric Vortalex fan - Cat. No. F11V163 from circa 1951. Was a heck of a learning experience for sure and took some trial and error and ended up making a couple mistakes along the way but overall I’m pretty happy with the finished product! Runs absolutely great too, I am using it as my bedroom fan - really love the sound of it. Has the typical GE hum to it but I don’t mind it at all!

General Electric Vortalex wiring question

Hi all, I have a vintage GE Vortalex fan that I have just finished a restoration on. I have just replaced the headwire and have noticed that one of the crimps has about 2-3 millimeters of bare copper sticking out. This copper is coming directly from one of the leads of the fan and I am worried about it shorting out against the stator or the motor housing.

It appears to have been like this from the factory as it was like this upon opening it up. My main concern with this is it moving around during oscillation and touching either the stator or motor housing causing a short.

Attached are pictures below, any advice on what to do would be appreciated!
