Hi everyone,

I recently picked up a used RØDE NTG3 (nickel finish) and noticed the body has developed a speckled/coarse appearance under strong light (see photo).

The surface feels slightly rougher than I expected, but there are no obvious signs of corrosion, flaking, or damage. The microphone appears to function normally and overall in great condition. However for about 2 inches surrounding the microphone, there is this surface change that has occured.

Has anyone seen this on an NTG3 before?

I'm trying to determine whether this is:

• Normal aging of the nickel finish
• Light oxidation
• Environmental wear from humidity/salt air
• Or something else entirely

Any feedback from long-term NTG3 owners would be appreciated.
