Since Silver Moon Bakery and the bookstore closed, the block has increasingly become a hotspot for open drug use and apparent dealing. The difference in the street environment is hard to miss if you’ve lived in the area for a while.

The loss of active neighborhood businesses seems to have left a vacuum, and now parts of the block feel dominated by people openly using, loitering for hours, and creating an atmosphere that pushes residents away.

Is the community board, NYPD, or anyone else addressing this? Because the trajectory is not good.
