Is it possible to close one loop and start another on the next bar?

Im trying to build a multi-track live looping setup in Ableton Live 12 using the native Looper device and a GP-200 MIDI foot controller.

My setup is simple:

  • One Looper device per track (Guitar, Bass, Keys, etc.).
  • Each footswitch controls the Record button of a different Looper.

What I’m trying to achieve is this:

  1. Start recording on Looper 1.
  2. Before the end of the loop (for example, on beat 2 of the last bar), press the footswitch for Looper 2.
  3. I want Looper 1 to continue recording until the next bar, close the loop exactly on beat 1, and immediately start recording on Looper 2.

I press the footswitch for Looper 1 to close the loop on beat 2, and then press the footswitch for Looper 2 before beat 1 of the next bar, the record arm is removed and nothing happens.

I also tried doing it manually. If I press Looper 1 to close the loop on beat 2, then arm the next track and press Looper 2to start recording, Looper 1 stops recording immediately instead of waiting until the next bar.

My goal is to press the footswitch for the next Looper before the end of the current loop, so that on beat 1 of the next bar, Looper 1 closes and Looper 2 starts recording seamlessly.

Thank you!
