For those of you who are on leadership boards or have passed interview stages in competitive programs/for boards at your school, how did you do it? What key things do you think they look for? What about written applications?

It feels really discouraging to see rejection after rejection :') I don't know how to tell if a baord values authenticity over merit or vice versa because it seems like different organizations have different things they look for.

Any tips/advice?
