I got tired of standard white noise breaking my focus, so I built a custom audio engine using neuro-acoustic frequencies.
Hey everyone,
As a mobile developer, I spend most of my day staring at screens and writing code. Lately, I’ve been struggling with two things: keeping my focus during long coding sprints, and actually shutting my brain off when I go to bed.
I used to listen to Spotify rain loops or YouTube ambient videos, but my brain would eventually recognize the patterns and I'd get distracted again. Plus, opening a bright app at 2 AM was killing my eyes.
So, I decided to build a side project to solve this for myself. I researched neuro-acoustic frequencies and built an iOS app that dynamically generates continuous soundscapes:
- For Deep Work: It uses Beta and Gamma rhythms to push the brain into a flow state.
- For Sleep: It uses heavy Delta waves to slow down the heart rate and block out mental noise.
- I also made the entire UI "Pure Dark" with minimal accents so it doesn't cause any eye strain in the dark.
I just pushed it to the App Store recently. I don't want to trigger any spam filters by dropping links in the post, but if anyone struggles with screen fatigue or focus and wants to test it out, let me know in the comments and I’ll share the link!
Also curious: what do you guys currently listen to when you need to lock in for 4+ hours?
