hey guys im currently live in shanghai, china, but hold an american passport. i got accepted to both colleges as a psychology major but might think of switching to cog sci? might do bio related majors?? still exploring my options. but i know its hard to switch into for ucsd
i also will consider the option of transferring
i enjoy vassar's small size and close connections between students and profs (which is pretty important for me cus as a social science major i prob would wanna go for grad skl), its artsy env, and it would def have an advantage if i rly do wanna transfer. i also think that vassar has less competition for research opportunities?? which would be another advantage compared to ucsd. i also like how vassar's academic freedom which allows you to explore your options before commiting to one major
my main concerns are the cost as i didnt apply for financial aid :/ so idk if my parents are willing to spend that much (are there scholarship/aid options??. also the weathers+location. im rly afraid of the cold lmao and vassar seems to be rly far from a major airport.
as for ucsd, i would def want to explore the option of directly entering the job field given the location + opportunities of this skl, the weather is too nice, and its prestige in cog sci, and i believe that as an int student i would enjoy UCSD's community and the chinese food in cal in general
but my concerns are the big size of the classes. it would be hard to establish close connections with prof, which also makes it hard for grad skl. also im afraid that as a public skl, its also hard to switch majors, which leaves me stuck with psych which would then 99% require a grad skl.
im not looking forward to partying in college so i like how both skls are not party schools. also i think my parents (mainly my dad) have a preference for ucsd cus of its reputation as vassar is not rly well known as a LAC (plz prove me wrong)
i also have no preference in terms of the campus itself lol
