Looking for ideas: How to cover up this terrible chest piece?

Hey everyone, I made a questionable decision a while back and ended up with a chest piece that I’ve absolutely grown to regret. It’s pretty dark with heavy linework, so I know my options might be somewhat limited without doing a few rounds of laser removal first, but I’m really hoping to go straight to a cover-up if possible. I’m pretty open-minded when it comes to style—whether that means going with a dense neo-traditional design, a heavy Japanese traditional piece like a dragon or serpent, or just leaning into full darkwork/blackwork with lots of saturation and organic flow. I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully covered up a large, dark piece in a similar spot, or artists who specialize in cover-ups. What themes, colors, or design elements tend to work best for hiding old ink on the chest, and how realistic is it to completely mask something like this without laser? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
