$3.5M NW at 34. Burnt out from finance job. Seeking advice
34M, single, VHCOL. $3.5M NW, $3M liquid investments across post tax (mostly) and retirement. Earn $800k+ (bonus weighted) at a finance job. Spend is ~$100k. Have been working for 11+ yrs. Stressed with work and chronically unhappy. Look at folks a few years ahead of me and don’t want their lives. Work/career stress impacting personal life and likely limiting progression on finding a significant other. Folks at work have started noticing I’m more checked out as well.
Unsure of what to do. Feel stuck, have felt for a while. Current plan is to stick it out till early 2027 for one more bonus. But not sure to what end. If others have navigated this quagmire successfully, would love to learn. Obviously incredibly grateful for what I have and relatively privileged position.
