The beginning of my balcony garden this year
In previous years I’ve had trouble with aphids and especially spider mites. I used to have a mass of plants in smaller containers and it could be a fun mini jungle. Unfortunately, combined with the hot temperatures our glazed balcony gets and not getting a ton of sunlight it was the perfect environment for pests. Last year I made the decision to have fewer but larger containers with everything easy to water. I’d love to have strawberries or tomatoes but the time I tried them were very discouragin, I think that they didn’t get enough light and it was too hot so I mostly have herbs. The heucheras have survived a few winters without any help from me, the others are annuals though I have to see if the stripy grass could survive.
