How to rebuild lost endurance and condition?

Short description of where I come from and I am now:

I used to be a licenced basketball player when I was younger. I could run, jump and keep my strength for long amounts of time but after I had to quit I stopped exercising all together. There were times where I worked out but right now I am kinda fat and I do NOT have any endurance or condition left from my past. I hate running and can't play for long amount of times, sweat more than others too.

What I want to do:

I started working out with body weight again and I want to improve my situtation so I wanna start from scratch and build what I've lost again. But I don't know how to create a plan for this and I don't want to approach this in a bad way. What can I read and research to create a plan that I can apply for my wants and needs? I wanna be able to work on this outside with minimal equipment if possible. Any advices?
