What set of retainers do you feel most sorry for? [Pall]

Getting locked into a job you hate really sucks. And it is worse if the nature of the job cuts off any avenue for improvement or upward mobility. Being a noble's retainer in Yurgenschmidt is not for sissies or the faint of heart.

Wilfred's retainers come to mind. Veronica's? Georgine? Traugott? (maybe he doesn't have any). Sigsiwald?

I suppose my choice would be those unfortunate souls hooked to Detlinde. Before her fall they had this exhaustive treadmill of trying to mitigate her blunders and stroking her ego nonstop. Now the rest of their lives is feeding her slop and being marked as a criminal. I can't help thinking they deserve better than that.

Who do you have sympathy for?

Are there any retainers that regret it? [Pall]

By and large those kids that seem to end up being retainers to Rozemyne do pretty well. Other than Traugott who we know of because he chose to make an issue of it, do we know of any retainers that discovered later that they would rather not be?

Was Eglantine justified in this assessment [P5V11]

Eglantine had been put into some pretty amazing circumstances by this point of the story, to the point where she has a conversation with an actual god. The subject turns to having Rozemyne becoming Zent and she says the following:

>“Lady Rozemyne does not enjoy war, but she is intensely self-centered,” I eventually replied. “Lord Ferdinand and I believe that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. We do what we must to preserve the greater peace. Lady Rozemyne, on the other hand, would go to dangerous lengths to protect those closest to her.”

>Kazuki, Miya. Ascendance of a Bookworm: Part 5 Volume 11 (pp. 297-298). (Function). Kindle Edition.

And she actually manages to mediate and soothe the situation with Mestionara and Erwaermen who at the moment are pretty ticked off at Quinta at the moment. That speaks to some real diplomatic ability.

How right she is, but how did she come to this conclusion?
