Appreciation for the debutants
Just some appreciation post for the debutants, especially Edward’s. A key position player who has played his role, keeping larkey to nothing is no easy feat and the way he played last night was very promising as well. Keeps a spot over melican for me, having him alongside Mccartin gives one of the two space to push up the field and be a tall target or intercept option, hope he continues. He’s not going to rack up important stats but he for sure is doing his job. Cootee not as successful but i will be his defender as well. He’s had a more difficult role to play as a pressure forward/winger on occasion. He probably won’t keep his spot but I think each game he plays he’s getting better. Very underrated against the pies last night, the pressure was insane so he didn’t get much ball, but he laid the most tackles for us last night with 7. Again not racking the stats but doing some important stuff that I don’t think a lot of people are giving him credit for, especially being a vfl player most of his career. If he gets more game time while we wait for gulden or Campbell to come back in I think he could develop as a Hayward type forward, goal a game type but important for tackling inside 50 and forward pressure.
