The truth about Scarlett's Reactive Evolution (and other stuff about her)

The truth about Scarlett's Reactive Evolution (and other stuff about her)

Is there a limit to this ability? Can she just adapt to every and all phenomena like she's some shikigami?

Well, no. Let's see the truth of Scarlett's adaptation in the early story.

The Truth

Scarlett is, by no means, invincible. There are limits to how much she can adapt to, and how fast. In truth, it lies with the true mechanics of how her regeneration functions.

Scarlett's Regeneration mechanics

Scarlett's Regeneration is due to the metaphysical energy (Meta-Energy for short) known as Ixshar, otherwise known as divine energy. This energy is produced by an organ called her Spirit Core. This energy is the reason as to why she could function. It's how all Lilins (and by extension, Scarlett) function.

Ixshar is also the primary reason as to how Lilins like Scarlett regenerate. This is done by converting ixshar into physical materials, such as flesh and bones in the case of Scarlett. Her regeneration speed is incredibly fast compared to other lilins because she's a >!fusion between two lilins.!< or a hybrid between three Lilin Types: Assault (focused on speed and precision), Warden (focused on strength and durability), and Golden Lilins (focused on energy manipulation, including meta-energies like Ixshar)

Scarlett's Adaptation

Her ability to mutate her flesh and bones to counter is an extension of this regeneration due to her hybridization. This causes her to regenerate, then cause spontaneous temporary mutations that could help her deal with the immediate threat. In addition, she also begins to grow stronger and more durable to match her opponents.

Note: Scarlett cannot be immune to phenomenas. There is also a limit to this power growth. Her mutations can also become inconvenient for her, but its sole purpose is to deal with the immediate threat. Her mutations are only combat-based. She cannot adapt to non-combat attributes, nor can she just be immune or get impossibly stronger compared to her opponent.

Is breaking Scarlett's Spirit Core still her weakness?

Yes, but there's more nuance.

Lilin Spirit Core is much more durable (Scarlett's Core survived a Planetary attack) in comparison to a Lilin's body. It also cannot be destroyed through physical means.

Scarlett's Core is special too. Merely fragmenting it isn't enough because the fragments will pull themselves back together. Total destruction of the Spirit Core is a must, since the fragments will reanimate if it isn't destroyed.

Why is she so strong?

Aurum's goal is to create a Lilin she can use to become above consequences, then harvest its Spirit Core. Although Scarlett is immune to mind control and possession (as most of my characters are), she is not immune to Forced Fusion. She can still lose a battle of will within the fusion, after all. She has seen this with Tenebrix, after all.

Let's start from the beginning, shall we...? - Scarlett lore drop

Let's go back to the beginning... shall we?

Awakening

Scarlett was not her original name. In fact, she never really knew her true name. When she awoke, she found herself buried underneath rubble. She found herself waking up in a strange ruins now reclaimed by nature, filled to the brim with lush green plants growing over man-made structures.

She doesn't know who she was, what she was, or where she was. All she remembered were arms carrying her to safety, and a face of a red haired princess that she could never forget.

Survival

However, the harsh environment never gave her time to adjust to anything. Immediately, animals began to stalk her from the ruins where she awoke from. To call them animals would be a mistake. They were not animals, they were monsters, filled to the brim with unnatural biological weapons such as bone spikes that grew from their bodies. They were vicious and sadistic. Not only the monsters, there are people too. Hunters that grew interest in her strange biology, or those who simply want her bounty.

She had to learn fight to defend herself. Her first fight was unforgiving, and it almost led to her death. The next fights were not easier. Each monster vicious in their attacks. However, if there's any solace, it's that after she won her battles, she was able to relax in the green fields, learned some hobbies, and even got curious of relationships, watching other creatures form families. She wanted that. She wanted connection.

However, Time and time again, she was challenged. The environment taught her one thing important: it's in battle kill or be killed. Each time she got into a fight with a monster in this environment, her body would adjust. Each damage she took, it rapidly healed, and even moreso, it mutates, adapting immediately to whatever damage she took. She would grow temporary horns, sharper teeth, claws, different tails, or grow in size. Each fight had different adaptations based on what she needed at the moment. The adaptations didn't account for if it's uncomfortable to her, all it does is give her what she needs at that moment, even if it's deeply uncomfortable, and even potentially harmful to herself, as long as it can temporarily defend her. Besides that, her strength would grow to eventually overcome an opponent, forcing the monster to run away.

Eventually, some of these adaptations stuck, such as her reinforced bone-plated hands, bone horns, and a segmented tail. Eventually, the tail developed claws at its tip that can also combine to form a spearhead for skewering.

Monstrous Form

However, even those adaptations weren't enough. So her body found a way to mutate to discourage other creatures from even attempting to fight her. She eventually developed a Monstrous Form, a form where her size multiplies, and she would develop a larger frame, bigger claws, bigger teeth, and her hair would spike and glow red, making her completely intimidating. This deterred other smaller monsters from attempting to fight her, and some people from trying to hunt her.

She transforms into her Monstrous Form whenever she feels threatened. It was a defensive mechanism to deter monsters and people who want to hurt her.

This led to her becoming the apex of the environment. Monsters are terrified of her to the point that they will avoid her territory outright. However, in truth, because of her experiences, she became terrified at anything that could hurt her. Her mutations are deeply uncomfortable to undergo through, even if it helps her survive. She's terrified of trusting anything, because she learned that in her environment, anything could look deceiving, but is completely monstrous.

Dilemma

However, her Monstrous Form didn't make her happy. In fact, it made her feel worse. She was feared not only by monsters, but by people too. She longed to make a connection, anyone to get closer to. However, because her Monstrous Form triggers whenever she feels threatened, this made her unable to approach anyone, because she's afraid of the idea that they could hurt her too, because that's how the environment shaped her. However, her Monstrous Form also causes others to fear her, leading to a negative feedback loop of her being unable to make connections to anyone, or even make an attempt to approach anyone. She was too afraid, and they were afraid of her.

This led to her disliking her Monster form. To her, her Monster Form was at fault. She only wishes that this form disappear.

To be continued.

Scarlett's most powerful opponent

Exceller, the forced fusion of Scarlett's parents, stood as the final obstacle against the protagonist. Exceller has the most terrifying ability as of yet: Preemptive adaptation. This means long before an attack hits, Exceller's strength and durability preemptively adjusts to no sell the attack, increasing durability and strength to magnitudes above the physical strength of the opponent.

They stand as the barrier that Scarlett couldn't break with mere physical strength. That no matter how strong she gets, Exceller will always get tougher, stronger, and more powerful than she is.

Crafting (actual) Higher Dimensional Entities

So we have seen multiple times that people create characters with cosmic abilities or scale high, but rarely do I get the feel of the higher dimensional unknowable cosmic entity.

So I'm going to try and throw my hat into the ring and create a category of higher dimensional entities that will feel unfathomably cosmic, but still have interesting narrative functions, at least for entities like them.

Note: This is not to poke at creators who create powerful, high-tier characters, but to explore the potential of an unknowable cosmic entity.

I am Error_Illust, creator of Scarlett, Rae, Kianna, Higanbana and Cobalt, and this is my take on higher dimensional entities. We will call them: Triands.

Crafting a Higher Dimensional Entity that feels like so.

So, in order to create Higher Dimensional entities, they have to... Well, be higher dimensional. So in this case, our entities, Triands, would have to have multiple spatial and temporal dimensions.

How does this work? For starters, 3D entities exists in 3 temporal dimensions, that being length, width and height, and 1 Tenporal Dimension, linear time. Hence, our Triand would have multiple temporal dimensions, and multiple spatial dimensions.

How will this function? Simple, since Triands have extra spatial dimensions, this allows them to approach at an axis completely imperceptible to to 3D beings, meaning that a Triand could be lurking closer towards a Universe, and no 3D person would know. Having such extra spatial dimensions also allow Triands to attack from a side that a 3D person couldn't see.

For reference, a 2D entity (with width and height) would not be able to perceive a 3D entity if the 3D entity approached from the 3rd dimension: Length.

Now since it also has multiple temporal (time dimensions), a triand would also perceive time differently from a 3D person, allowing it to appear at any point in the timeline. Maybe parts of it appear in the past, some appear in the future, the present, and some even appear on alternate timelines. This makes them a completely terrifying threat to a multiverse by simply existing. It could completely destroy a Universe by merely colliding with it.

But let's make it worse. Instead of merely destroying a Universe, what if it assimilates the Universe it collides with, and completely incorporate it within itself, warping its space-time continuum and its inhabitants.

Now we have a powerful cosmic being that's a multiversal threat, and we haven't even given it any hax yet, it just exists with more dimensional axes, and immediately, it is a threat to the multiverse.

How do we make it ... Beatable?

Normally, I'd say "don't." But we can actually make Triands interesting while retaining their power.

Let's make them completely mindless, only drifting in a higher dimensional axes that 3D entities couldn't perceive. They don't have any motivations, nor can they even think. They're just mindlessly assimilating anything their high dimensional forms collide with.

There are ways for lower dimensional beings to beat a Triand is to have it pass through the 3 Dimensional axis.

1.) Because a Triand incorporates 3-D space into its hyper-form, it must first "touch" or intersect a specific region of the 3-D universe.

Instead of attacking the Triand, the 3-D civilization attacks their own space. They use extreme localized energy (like creating an artificial black hole) to completely sever or "quarantine" the affected sector of space-time.

The Result: By destroying the local 3D coordinate grid before the Triand can anchor itself, they remove the "surface" the Triand was feeding on, causing the mindless entity to drift past them into the higher-dimensional void.

2.) Since Triands are mindless and simply incorporate lower-dimensional matter into their forms, they lack intent or hunger in a biological sense; it is a passive geometric absorption.

Rather than letting the Triand collide with inhabited galaxies, the civilization manufactures massive, highly dense, artificial 3D pocket dimensions or "sacrificial" empty universes.

They project these high-mass spatial decoys directly into the Triand's oncoming higher-dimensional path. The Triand passively absorbs the decoy and drifts away, completely missing the civilization's actual home universe.

3.) Within my Verse, there's something called Meta-energy. Meta-energies (short for metaphysical energies) are a fundamental force of the verse that exists outside of normal physics. These are Mana (Magical energy), Vitalis (Soul/Life energy), Psi (Mind Energy) and Ixshar (Divine Energy). These meta-energies do not function like physical energies, allowing them to completely interact with higher dimensional axes even if the user is lower dimensional. Fundamentally mastering these energies through study could potentially allow the user to perceive the higher dimensional axes, as well as interact with them.

4.) Parasitic Destruction - Arguably the most dangerous way of dealing with Triands is to enter their body, which is a full on multiverse, and find its Core. The Core is a 4-Dimensional Structure (3 spatial dimensions and 1 Temporal Dimension) within the complex internals of a Triand. The Core could be destroyed by anything that could destroy a 4D structure. However, doing this is dangerous, as a Triand passively rewrites reality within its internals, so much so that the laws of physics bend within them.

Food for thought

How would your Verse deal with such threats, while making the way they are dealt with make sense?

The Genius of Kianna Muramasa

"... That's it! Of course. Meta-energy persists through time. If I accelerate through Meta-Energies instead of my normal speed, even within this time loop, I can theoretically outrun time. Outrun time... If I could outrun time, I can prevent this time loop from being created in the first place."

-Kianna Muramasa

~•~•

Faced with a big problem: being trapped in a Time Loop, Kianna had to once again, solve this problem with ingenuity. With her given abilities thus far, Kianna has no means to break through the Time Loop, so she has to improvise.

The way Kianna does it is by utilizing a personal "bubble" or field using Meta-Energies that she coats herself with, a mixture of Psi (Psychic energy), Vitalis (Life Energy or Chi) and Mana (Arcane energy, aka magic.)

Meta-energies aren't affected by space-time, as they transcend dimensions (spatial and temporal), even if the users are bound to space-time themselves. Kianna, knowing this, learns to utilize psi to allow her to remember through the time loop. She then uses a mix of Arcane Spells and Vitalis to store acceleration. Vitalis is used for the acceleration itself, and she makes a pseudo-spell whose mechanic is to simply store the acceleration done by her exerting her Vitalis.

Even if the time loop puts her back into her previous spatial and temporal position, her memories along with the stored acceleration through combined Meta-energy persists through the time loop, allowing her to accelerate further and further even as time snaps her back to a certain moment, until she completely "outruns" the time loop by traveling back to when it's created, and stopping the loop. Essentially, she's storing her acceleration through the meta energies, until she reaches level 7 Inaccessible speed, where she can essentially travel backwards in time through speed to the point that she arrives to the time before the loop was made.

Rae Update (what do you all think?)

If you've seen my other posts, you might know Raven Aurora, one of the four OCs of mine alongside Scarlett, Kianna, and Cobalt.

Here's what I added to her, and why this is important.

Rae's entire character stems from the idea of RPG power players who don't interact with the story, similar to the idea of Genocide Route in Undertale, or your average TTRPG murderhobo. As such, her character aims to explore and deconstruct how having that much power could affect one's psyche.

Indeed, alongside Scarlett, Kianna and Cobalt, she is a different exploration of the 'strongest' archetype.

What's new?

Alongside her Ice Magic, or Spellfrost list, Raven is now also an Esper, which means she has Psychic Powers. This allows for the new rules of Absolute Zero.

Absolute Zero, mechanically speaking, is a Certain Kill Arcane spell that causes a target the caster touches to have its temperature drop to absolute zero. It also acts as a nullification ability to ensure that the freeze happens.

What makes Rae's Absolute Zero different now?

Rae takes this a step further with her psychic energy. At all times, Rae has a psychic aura around her emanating. This psychic aura essentially stops anything that can be harmful to Rae, and nothing can get past it, this includes people (keep that in mind).

What's worse is that her psychic aura passively casts Absolute Zero, which means that she has a protective coating that triggers a Certain Kill Spell.

What about her new psychic powers?

Rae's major psychic powers are Telekinesis and Mind Break.

Her telekinesis is extremely powerful, displaying the ability to just flatten the entire Kingdom of Luminia with a motion of her hand in frustration. Aside from that, she can move objects, or crush them under their own weight. She can also move herself.

Mind Break is a Certain Kill Psychic single target ability, where Rae could overload someone's mind and just kill them that way. However, this is her less used Certain Kill because it leaves her vulnerable after, as her psychic barrier disappears after using Mind Break due to the amount of Psi (psychic energy) needed to use it.

Why the change?

Before, Rae essentially relied on her Absolute Zero to be invincible. But now, she essentially is a parody of a "Perfect Build RPG character with OP starting stats."

However, it also works better to deconstruct her trope compared to her old powerset.

She still retains Absolute Zero, and with the psychic barrier, its a metaphor for her closing herself off from the world, making sure that nothing can come close and hurt her anymore, because they'd all die before coming close to her.

Her Psychic Powers now strengthens her tragedy. She stops seeing people as people, but rather, as obstacles to her goal. This now numbs her to the idea of death and killing, leading to her cold demeanor and a general disregard to someone's life the moment her mind concludes that they're obstacles.

However, something about Rae that remains likeable in the sea of unlikeable personality, is that she deeply dislikes the idea of the weak unable to save themselves from Destiny. This shows in her saving innocent people from getting crushed by debris using her psychic powers. There is a glimpse of a Rae that can do good, but it's currently buried by her ruthlessness to get what she wants: To Find Pandora's Box, and wish to revive her dead family and restore the village that Queen Lumi destroyed.

Does she have any combat weaknesses?

In-verse, no. Why? That defeats the purpose of her deconstruction. She can't fully be desensitized if there's still something to fear. I like the idea of her not being capable of solving problems with her power set. Not everything can be solved with mindless ruthlessness and pragmatism.

This is why Rae does not have the ability to read minds, despite being an Esper. Because she intrinsically cannot connect to others, because she thinks she doesn't need to, hence, why she can't unlock the ability to read minds.

For all her power, Rae lacks what's necessary for her goals. Without anyone she could lean into, Rae will never find Pandora's Box.

Rae doesn't lack in pure strength. What she lacks is the power to make connections. And ironically, that's what she needs to find what she's looking for...

I'm So Lonely... (Scarlett vs Conquest stats comparison)

Second Strongest Viltrumite Vs The first successful X-Lilin prototype

Connections:

* Both are lonely outcasts from their kind (Scarlett lived in Solitude in the ruins of Shiddonia, Conquest lived alone on a Moon)

* Both are exceptional powerhouses (Scarlett is an X-Lilin, Conquest is the second strongest Viltrumite)

* Both are technically Superman variants (Scarlett was initially developed as a female evil Superman, Viltrumites are similar to evil versions of Kryptonians)

* Both are considered monstrous.

* Both initially didn't get names, only a title (Scarlet Demon, Conquest)

Tenebrix

Tenebrix is one of the major antagonists of the second arc of Scarlett Rose Chronicles. She an X-Lilin (hybrid) prototype before Scarlett, and she has... A lot of issues.

Tenebrix is one of the earlier prototypes capable of cognition, although her mind is incredibly fractured. She could think, and she could feel, but she's prone to berserk outrages because her Spirit Core is psychologically fractured.

Because of this incompleteness, Tenebrix yearns fusion. She wants to fuse with anyone that can "complete" her. She tried to fuse with Spirit Core Shards before, but they did nothing to make her feel more complete.

With this incompleteness, she also felt jealous of Scarlett, the first prototype to be completely functional. She expresses her growing hatred for Scarlett and her 'perfect' body, her perfect mind, and her perfect Spirit Core, while she gets to be hideous, incomplete, and monstrous. Fueled by this jealousy, Tenebrix lashes out and attacked...

I have been trying to put Ruby in jungle for a while, and of course, her biggest issue has got to be the clear speed.

However, with the recent advance server update buffing the base damage of her 1st skill, I think that would speed up her jungling. My idea so far is that she's a really good burst hero with good potential to gank because all her skills are cc (slow on 1st skill, and stun on second).

If anyone's on the advanced server, has anyone tried jungling Ruby? I can't really say for certain if she'd be a viable jungler even with these changes because her early game is still ass (especially with the weaker early lifesteal)—

Here's a fun lore drop of Scarlett's early life in Shiddonia! Hope you all enjoy!

---

Before there was a Scarlet Demon

(A short story about Scarlett's early life in Shiddonia)

She was lost.

The woman moved through the dense, shadowed undergrowth of Shiddonia’s ancient ruins, now overtaken by vegetation and life, her black wrapped boots silent on the moss-covered earth. She had existed for only a week, perhaps two, but time meant nothing to her, not yet at least. She had no name, no memories, no understanding of the world beyond the constant, gnawing certainty that she was in danger.

The canopy above was so thick it devoured sunlight, leaving the forest floor in perpetual twilight. Every shadow seemed alive. Every snapped twig or rustle of leaves made her wary. She didn’t know why she was here. She only knew she had to keep moving.

Then the beast stepped out from the darkness.

It was massive, nearly ten feet tall at the shoulder, with a powerful, hunched frame covered in feathers of black and white. It was a monstrous raptor. Its jaws bristled with sharp teeth, and a long, bladed tail moved behind it ever so slowly. Its crimson eyes locked onto her with cold intelligence. It didn’t roar. It simply watched, circling slowly, assessing its prey.

She backed away one careful step at a time. Her body, still new, still learning, tensed with instincts she didn’t understand.

Without warning, the creature lunged.

Its jaws opened wide, ready to clamp down into her. On instinct, she stopped its bite, holding its jaws open with her hands. Agony exploded through her hands as teeth pierced through flesh and crushed bone. But she held on. Black boots dug into the soil.

Something inside her began to resonate.

Muscle fibers multiplied. Bones knit back together immediately as they break. Dense bone plating erupted from beneath her skin, reinforcing her arms like armor. Energy she didn't yet understand surged through her arms, increasing her strength twice, then three times what she had moments before. With a savage cry she slammed the beast’s head into the ground, cratering the earth beneath its weight.

The monster shrieked in fury.

It retaliated instantly, slashing her right shoulder with razor claws. Flesh tore away, and more bones fractured. She staggered as its bladed tail whipped around like a scythe, smashing her through several thick tree trunks. Wood splintered. Pain blinded her.

Yet even as she hit the ground, her body was already healing.

Torn muscle regrew in seconds. Shattered bones realigned. The wounds sealed, leaving only faint scars that faded as fresh bone plating burst through her skin. The damage only made her stronger.

Her eyes began to glow.

The beast sensed the shift. For the first time, hesitation flickered in its glowing red gaze.

BOOM.

Twin beams of scarlet light erupted from her eyes, surging to the creature’s torso. The force hurled it backward through rock and foliage, carving a smoking trench through the forest, before hitting a cliff face. She charged after it in a wild, almost feral lunge, power flooding her limbs. She tackled the beast through the cliff, digging through stone, gravel, and soil, before exploding out the other side in a shower of stone and dust.

She pinned it down, pressing it through the soil. The monster thrashed wildly, kicking her off with a desperate surge of strength before scrambling away into the trees, bleeding and terrified.

Panting, she rose to her feet.

Blood dripped from her hands as she pulled the last embedded tooth free, the wounds closing almost instantly. The bone plating that had armored her cracked and crumbled away like old chitin, shattering to the ground. She stared at the destruction around her—the shattered trees, the scorched earth, the trail of the fleeing monster.

This was how it had been since the moment she came into existence.

Fight. Adapt. Survive.

And the Ruins of Shiddon was already learning to fear her.
