Advice on housing - Transfer from socal

I'm planning to transfer to Davis this upcoming fall, and I know the deadline is coming soon to submit housing and find a roommate. I'm having a difficult time deciding whether to choose a single or double occupancy at the green. If I choose a double, I would be fully covered. If I choose a single, I'd have to pay 6K a year out of pocket. This sounds like a no-brainer, but the thing is, I have really bad anxiety to the point where I get nauseous, can't eat, and shake a little. Especially during situations that are new to me/change (moving 6 hours away, no family near me), and meeting new people. I'm wondering if anyone who has had this problem with anxiety, how you decided your housing option? Did you say f**k it and have to take out a loan, or force yourself to dorm with a stranger? I'm used to sharing spaces. I used to share a one-bedroom with my mom and 3 siblings, but I feel this is way different because I don't know this person. What are some solutions that, if it comes to it, and I have to share a bedroom with someone, what kind of things did you do to have privacy?
