Can't update gemini?

Gemini App stuck on outdated UI/models on Galaxy S21 (Android 15), while an older phone on the same account gets everything. Any fix?

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a bizarre server-side rollout / device flag issue with the Gemini app on my Samsung Galaxy S21 (running Android 15), and it’s driving me crazy.

My S21's Gemini app seems completely stuck in a time capsule.

It's completely missing the NotebookLM integration (+ menu shortcut) and Personalized Intelligence/Memory settings.

It doesn't have the new pill-shaped chatbar option to dynamically switch models mid-conversation.

It hasn't even picked up yesterday's global updates, such as the new model and quota changes.

Here is the kicker: I have an older phone, a Galaxy A42 (Android 12), logged into the exact same Google account. The Gemini app on that A42 has the latest UI, NotebookLM, and all the newest model updates. Furthermore, if I access Gemini via Chrome on my S21, the web version works perfectly with all the new features. It is strictly the S21 app client that is broken.

Everything I’ve already tried (that failed):

Cleared all data and cache for the Google App, Gemini App, and Google Play Store.

Uninstalled updates and cleared all data/cache for Android System WebView.

Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the Gemini app.

Changed device regions and swapped between multiple Google accounts (all accounts stay stuck on the old UI on this specific phone).

It feels like Google’s servers have blacklisted or locked my S21’s hardware ID into an old A/B testing bucket.

Has anyone with an S21 or similar device experienced this reverse-downgrade bug? Is there any known way to force the server to push the latest app flags to the device?

Thanks in advance!
