A slice of the Esquel Pallasite - possibly the most beautiful of meteorites

This is a type of stony-iron meteorite called a pallasite and is a web of iron and olivine from the core-mantle boundary of an extinct protoplanetary body.

And yes, like most (but not all) spacerocks, this material is around 4.65 billion years old.

A nice old cookery book…

This is a 1770 copy of Hannah Glasse’s ‘ the art of cookery’.
A very popular book and in print from about 1740 to 1820. Note her printed signature on the front piece - she did that because people were plagiarise her work and publishing it under their name.
