41M. How should I continue my career?

I have been staying in the same company for 15 years. No promotion or bonus in the past few years. I tried applying for new jobs to switch but didn't succeed in getting one.

Is it advisable to remain in current company despite no career growth? Will I be able to secure better job?

Is it a normal situation in a lab?

I have been doing postdoc about 4 years now. I learned to do experiments accurately and thoroughly during my PhD so I continued that good practice but my current PI said I shouldn't be serious about work. I was so surprised after hearing this but wonder why he doesn't care about it.

While I was preparing for my manuscript, I was told that the lab manager must help some analysis so that they can be on paper to go to medical school. I agreed as it's a good thing ... it took for ages to finish that analysis and my submission was delayed just for this analysis and I told my PI but he said I should just wait. The reason why the analysis was so delayed because the manager was taking MCAT and took leave or while he is in lab, he was just chatting with others the whole day. Eventually it's done and I submitted.

I have a side project with other lab members as my PI likes collaborating projects among lab members. The same thing happened ... that project is going nowhere as one person didn't do at all and my PI didn't care at all.

I don't know if I should stay in lab longer as this kind of things will be repeated and in the end, it's very hard to get any progress. I have been feeling frustrated... I also don't know if it's normal situation that people just keep chatting in lab the whole day until next door lab people ask why my lab is always gossiping. One postdoc even didn't bother to come to lab .. maybe juz once a week. By the way, we are wet lab which involves molecular experiments and no remote work is required.

I was thinking to raise my concerns to my PI but am worried that this will affect my evaluation. I heard from one lab member that my PI praised her for having lunch with others and this is a good trait for becoming a medical student. It seems that having chattering and socialising is very important in research rather than doing experiments. I don't know I am the weird person to perceive the whole situation strange or if that's a healthy lab situation.

Timeline to get approval or info request for HPI

I have read most of posts on timeline of approval but still wanna ask about recent timeline.

I did biometrics on July 7 at Los Angeles VFS (non -US or Europe passport holder).
When should I ask UKVI if I don't hear anything from them at all? I am sorry as I know this kind of question is repeated but I am just nervous about it.

Contacting recruiters in UK

I did my postdoc in neuroscience in US and am looking for industrial jobs in UK. To expand my search, I DM'ed recruiters on LinkedIn but got no responses.

What is the suggested way to contact recruiters? Also, could suggest recruiters for biotech jobs in Uk?

Thank you!

Does student visa ban affect HPI?

I am from one of the countries which UK banned student visas cuz of asylum rate a few months ago.

I will apply for HPI but am worried if the chance of getting HPI is low for the same reason

Any thought about that?

What to do after first postdoc

I am in my fifth year of postdoc in US. Due to visa issues, I decided not to stay in US and also my project is finished with publications.
I am applying for industrial jobs and teaching positions in other countries but didn't get any interviews.

Should I do another postdoc in like UK, Europe etc? I don't know if it's a good idea to do postdoc just to make money while postdoc salary in UK is lower than US. Or I could be jobless if i don't secure anything in the dnd.

Valid date for Applying with J1 from US

I am staying in US with J1 but my passport stamp was expired.

Is it correct if I put Valid date for staying for visa is the expiry date of DS2019?

Is it sufficient to submit only ds2019?
